Bringing a handmade moon into your home

When I was designing this clock, I wanted it to be more than just another nursery item. I wanted it to feel like a piece of art that actually took effort to make.

That sunny yellow crescent moon you see? It isn't just a flat patch. I crocheted it separately and then carefully hand-sewed it onto the base to give it a slight 3D pop. The tiny white stars are small, but they’re the trickiest part—positioning each one so they look like a naturally scattered sky takes way more patience than you’d think.

I chose the caramel-colored center to ground all that yellow. It keeps the design looking clean and sophisticated, so while it's perfect for a nursery, it also looks great in a cozy craft room or a reading nook.

• Look at the texture: When you see it in person, you can really see the individual stitches. It has a "softness" that plastic decor just can't mimic.
